This is mystery dram number 3 in the tasting pack from Flaviar. This one was very obviously a bourbon. The nose smacked of wood, spice and sweet stuff. It turned out to be a bit of a unique one. One of the things Flaviar do is sell their own bottlings of things under the Deer, Bear & Moose label, and this was one of their bottlings of bourbon. From what distillery it’s from is not listed however.
Aged 2 years *, 46.6%ABV
* For lack of age statement
Nose: Oak. Marzipan. Cinnamon flavouring. Vanilla. Bit of glue. Blood oranges. Marmalade.
Palate: Juicy, bitter citrus. Orange cake. Bit of bitter wood balancing the sweet notes. Fresh cut pine. Bit of acetone. Quite spicy on the swallow.
Finish: Long. Bubble gum. Light wood. Woodspice. Marzipan.

Would I drink this if someone gave me a glass: Yes
The spirit was quite mellow so it might be aged a little and there’s some of that nice rye spice in here too. If I had to describe this one I’d call it a marzipan bomb. I picked up a lot of marzipan all the way through. I found it a tad sweeter (rich marzipan sweet, not the usual bourbon sweet) than the bourbons I like, but it was pretty good, higher ABV was a nice touch.
