This is part of the core range from Springbank. It’s often bypassed or overlooked in favour of the 12 year old cask strength expression, but this is a fine whisky in its own right. It’s actually around the same price as the 12 year old (and can be found for cheaper) and represents some really good VFM.
Aged 15 years . 46%ABV. No colourant added and non-chill filtered.
Nose: Leather. Vegetal peat. Mossy rocks. Leafy wood smoke. Caramel pudding. Oranges. Allspice. Lemon zest. Hints of sherry wood.
Palate: Brown sugar. Stewed apricots. Leather. Butterscotch. Dry woody note. Dried fruit roll.
Finish: Long. Spicy, dry wood note on the tongue with a deep leathery, fruity note all the way down the throat.

This was some delicious stuff with an amazingly thick leather note all the way through, like drinking a fine leather jacket and chasing it with a nice fruit leather roll. I originally had just a sample of this but ended up buying a bottle.
