This Talisker is released in one batch every year. As far as I understand this used to also be bottled at cask strength but has sadly been brought down to the Talisker standard 45.8%. The price jump from the 18 year old expression is quite a big one, but this is a really solid dram.
Aged 25 years. 45.8%ABV.
Nose: Dry straw. Rich wood. Old spice cologne. Light salt. Slate. Salt. Nutty. Bit of pepper.
Palate: Rubber. Charcoal. Dry wood. Toffee. Salt. Smoked salmon.
Finish: Medium. Salt. Charcoal. Dry wood. Pecans.

Would I drink this if someone gave me a glass: Yes
This is not really a Talisker, there’s very little left of the original distillate’s character, only some faint salty, smoky notes. But they meld together so well with the rich woody characters this gets from sitting in oak for so long, that this is a fine whisky in its own right. It is a bit pricy to get a whole bottle, but I’d recommend at least trying a dram.
