Glenmorangie 12 ‘Quinta Ruban’

Another of Glenmorangie’s 12 year old specially finished whiskies. This one was finished in ruby port pipes. I don’t usually comment on the colour of whiskies, but this one is not artificially coloured and the port finish gives it a really lovely pink hue.

Aged 12 years. 46%ABV. Finished in ruby port pipes. No colourant added and non-chill filtered.

Nose: Gunpowder. Plum pudding. Raisins. Dark sticky fruits. White pepper. Potpourri. Cherry liqueur. Sweet wood sap. Biscotti. Amaretto.

Palate: Dry red wine. Dark juicy cherries. Christmas pudding. Woodspice. Iced cinnamon bun.

Finish: Long. Dry red fruits. Ruby grapefruit. Rich wood. The good cough syrup from childhood.

Would I buy this: Yes

Would I order this in a bar: Yes

Would I drink this if someone gave me a glass: Yes

VFM: 3/5

I really like this one. It’s one of my favourites of their range. I usually only like peated whiskies with a port finish, but the port works well here, not overbearing at all.
