Orbital 8-year-old

This is a blended whisky with a bit of a twist. It was created by the very good Whisky Magazine from a huge stock of whisky samples they had from all over the world. This hodgepodge of whiskies was then mixed with a grain whisky and aged in a PX cask. I got to try it at this year’s Whisky Live Tel Aviv.

Aged 8 years. 46%ABV. Matured in a PX cask.

Nose: Bit of young spirit at first. Lemon drops. Burned orange peel. Barley sugar. Bit of red fruit.

Palate: Boiled sweets. Coconut. Simple syrup. Grape juice.

Finish: Medium. Boiled sweets. Butterscotch.

Would I buy this: No

Would I order this in a bar: No

Would I drink this if someone gave me a glass: Yes

VFM: 3/5

Unfortunately all the whiskies in here just led to some Lowest Common Denominator flavours. It wasn’t a bad whisky, just not very remarkable, still an interesting experiment.
