Lagavulin 12 2016 Release


Well here we are again, another year, another Lagavulin 12. Every year Diageo releases a batch of this. Refill bourbon cask matured and bottled at cask strength, this is a very different beast to the classic 16 year old. I’ve been lucky enough to once again get my hands on this year’s release. I really enjoyed last year’s, it was hugely complex and the best Lagavulin 12 I’ve tried to date. So let’s see how this one compares.

Lagavulin 18 Feis Ile 2016

One of the most disappointing things about my visit to Lagavulin distillery in July was the fact that there were no special bottlings available, not even to taste. I was particularly disappointed that I didn’t get the chance to try their 2016 Feis Ile (Islay Festival held at the end of May each year) bottling and I’d tried the festival bottlings from all of the other Islay distilleries.

My Islay Trip Part 4 – Lagavulin

The day had started pretty miserably, big ominous black clouds and such. Today was the day I’d planned to visit Lagavulin and Ardbeg, which meant a 3 mile walk each way. Anyways I was not going to let the weather keep me from doing what I went there to do, so I packed up my rain suit and made sure everything was waterproofed and off I plodded.

I just recently returned from a trip to the beautiful island of Islay. Islay is a little green island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland, and is most well known for being home to 8 whisky distilleries who make some damn fine stuff.

Lagavulin 1997 Distiller’s Edition Double Review


In case some of you haven’t noticed, I’m slowly filling my blog with some posts of notes I’ve taken before I started the blog.
